Discover Tuan Chau Island

The gateway to Halong Bay with countless experiences

Tuan Chau is the largest of the 1,969 islands in Halong Bay, connected to the mainland by a 2 km bridge. It is the main departure point for all cruises and a large tourism complex featuring an international marina, artificial beach, golf course, and entertainment venues.

8 km from Halong city centre, 165 km from Hanoi
Travel time
~ 2.5 hours from Hanoi by expressway
Best season
October – April (cool, clear skies)

Tuan Chau Beach

A 2 km man-made beach with fine white sand and clear water. Perfect for relaxing before or after your cruise.

"Quintessence of the North" show

A large-scale outdoor performance depicting Northern Vietnamese culture, staged every evening at Tuan Chau Theatre — worth seeing if you stay overnight on the island.

Local Cuisine

Fresh seafood is the speciality: grilled squid cake, sandworm, shrimp noodles, horseshoe crab. Don't miss bánh cuốn chả mực — the signature dish of the region.

Helpful Tips

Insider advice from the Amour Cruise team

Book at least 2 weeks in advance during peak season (April – September, holidays).
Exchange VND in Hanoi or at hotel reception — better rates than at the airport.
Bring small cash for staff tipping (10,000 – 50,000 VND per service) and souvenirs on the island.
Download Google Maps offline for the Halong area — 4G signal can be weak on the bay.
Prepare seasickness medication if you are sensitive — Amour Cruise is smooth but better safe.
Ask our staff about the best sunset viewing time — the bay changes colour magically every minute.
